...do we believe that by switching the dial on the radio to "off" - that the music we were just listening to on it, has altogether stopped playing from its source...?

Our second dog this year has passed away. Neo, a beautiful black rescued ex-racing greyhound, died in Florida after his last seizure. He was 10 years old.

Alexander wanted to "talk" to Neo, so we did, for a while, in the comfort of our living room in New York. We wished him peace. We wished Ricky, our Yorkshire Terrier who also died this year, to keep him company. We wished to see him again someday.

And tonight we took a nice long walk in the darkness and finally saw the Big Dipper, as well as Orion's Belt, and the Little Dipper.

sorry about your dog... we lost two dogs this year too... an elderly dalmation mix, "sparky" and our old english sheepdog puppy, "vivi"... my son and I had a memorial ceremony for them at Halloween where we honoured our animal ancestors...

Interesting that folks are sharing their animal-loved-ones stories, not just here but in person with me and A. A friend from Argentina just shared with me the recent loss of his 14-year-old german shepherd. "He couldn't walk so well, as at 14 years he had developed a weakened spine. But when he'd watch a cat walk by, he'd get up to go after it. He'd walk two steps then imediately fall down. He got credit for trying."

It's nice that we can share that our lives have been impacted by non-humans, so much so that we either remember them that we memorialize them. It makes us so much more...human, no?
