I couldn't help it. It's Fall. Fall is cool. And Halloween is coming.
Today is A's birthday. When I presented him with not one, but two gifts, he looked surprised and said, "I didn't expect two." He was happy. But his gracious expression on receiving the extra gift (and trust me, it was not too lavish), honestly, was the most endearing part of the day.
I guess it's a reciprocal gift. When A presented himself to me and the world for the first time, he arrived very clean, not bloody at all, but full of his baby "cream" which the midwife suggested I should massage into his skin. ¡Ese niňo nació muy limpio! Yes, he did. Clean. Uncomplicated.
After the birth, I vomited.
Care to share a little endearing detail - of your child(ren)'s birth(s)?

Happy (belated) B-day to A and you too!
after being in labour for over a day with my 4th child, I finally went in to the hospital to see how it was going, and sadly, was sent home at 10 pm (all of my kids were posterior)... "come back tomorrow" they joked to me... in utter exhaustion, I had a relaxing bath, and drank a couple of glasses of white wine... relaxed, the baby turned, and within a short time, I realized that I needed to go back to the hospital... we woke up my two daughters and got back into the van to go the 5 minute distance... I had two contractions between my house and the hospital - with the first one, my water broke, with the second one, my son was born - I pointed this out to my birth coach (she didn't believe me) and when we arrived at the hospital, my partner jumped out, ran around and opened the door - to his surprise, our son was half out, and he finished delivering him... meanwhile my daughter sarah told a nurse on a smoke break that her mom had had the baby in the car... to this day our doctor calls my son "dodge"...
